Malus domestica ‘Redlove Odysso’
Swiss breeder Markus Kobelt has done it again! A new member of the Redlove family of red-fleshed apples is Redlove Odysso, which sports gorgeous, dark pink spring blooms and offers late summer fruit that is has a sprightly 2-tone red inner and outer flesh, with a strongly contrasting white band encircling the seed capsule. The shape of the apple is more elegantly elongated, and reminiscent of its early ancestor, the wild Central Asian Malus Niedzweckyana – but the vastly improved flavor and texture is all modern! Red apple sauce, red juice, red cider – the sky’s the limit.
Excellent disease resistance for scab. Early bloomer category 1 and early midseason ripener.
