Malus domestica ‘Rebella’
Skilled breeding develops great apples! This large, elongated red apple has a wonderful combination of sweet and tart flavors. It ripens midseason, in late September here in the PNW. Released in 2003, it’s a cross between Golden Delicious and the unreleased Remo (James Greive x resistant clone), and the powerful, complex, sweet flavor shows the influence of both parents.
Its breeding for disease resistance really shines as well; it’s resistant to scab, mildew, fireblight, pseudomonas, and red mite. Bloom category 3 midseason. This apple does great in maritime climates on both coasts!
